Healthy snacks during work

Today, April 7th, is World Health Day, the ideal opportunity for some healthy snack tips. We all recognize it, the temptation for a bar of chocolate, a cookie or one cup of coffee after the other. Especially now that remote work is the standard and the candy cupboard is within reach 24/7. This doesn’t make it any easier! But it can undoubtedly be done in a healthier way. We give you some tips for healthier snacks during work.

Replace the unhealthy nibbles with tasty alternatives:

A handful of unsalted nuts is the ideal replacement for a bowl of chips or MNMs. Unsalted nuts are very healthy and contain a lot of good fats and proteins that make you feel satiated. Eat about a handful of nuts per day (about 25-30 grams). Choose for instance almonds, cashews, peanuts, walnuts or hazelnuts.

Crackers & rice wafers
Whole grain crackers and rice cakes can also serve as a healthy alternative, they are very tasty,  light, and you can fill them with anything. Are you a fan of a layer of hummus, a slice of cucumber or a fresh slice of tomato? It’s all possible! It’s also quick to prepare and not too much fiddling around in the kitchen.

This one probably isn’t new to you, but we want to help remind you how delicious fruit is, how easy it is to take with you, but most importantly, how healthy it is. The advice is to eat at least 2 pieces of fruit every day. Especially vary with the different fruits and make for example a fruit salad with blueberries, grapes, banana and strawberries. Are you more of a fan of a fresh smoothie? Mix different fruits, add healthy yogurt, a few ice cubes, and you are ready to mix it up! Perfect healthy refreshment on a sunny day.

Do you prefer vegetables for a snack? Then there are also plenty of healthy alternatives. There are small versions of almost all types. Think of small tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers and even small celery sticks. All can be topped off with a hummus or vegetable dip of sweet potato. Highly recommended! 

Try to resist too many cups of coffee and drink water. It’s not healthy to swallow slugs of coffee all day long. Therefore, pass by the water fountain once in a while and give your body some water. Hydration is more important than you think. A trendy and easy drinking bottle will undoubtedly also ensure that you regularly drink some water.
